Advanced Composite Structures Australia (ACS Australia) is proud to congratulate our Chairman, Professor Murray L. Scott, on receiving the Lifetime Achievement and Outstanding Contribution Award at the Composites Australia Annual Industry Awards, presented during the Composites Australia Conference 2026 in Geelong, Victoria.

This award recognises Murray’s exceptional contribution to the Australian and international aerospace and composites sectors over a career spanning more than four decades.
His career has been defined by technical leadership, industry collaboration and a sustained commitment to translating advanced composites research into real-world aerospace capability. His work includes 13 years as Chief Executive Officer of the Cooperative Research Centre for Advanced Composite Structures (CRC-ACS), where he led major industry-research collaborations that delivered advanced composite technologies adopted in the Boeing 787 Dreamliner and other programs.
Beyond his leadership in applied aerospace research and composites manufacturing, Murray has made an enduring contribution to the professional engineering community. He co-founded the Australian Composite Structures Society (ACSS), chairs the Joint Board for Aerospace Engineering, and has held senior international leadership roles across major aerospace and composites organisations, including serving as President of both the International Council of the Aeronautical Sciences (ICAS) and the International Committee on Composite Materials (ICCM).
He has also been recognised with Honorary Fellowships from Engineers Australia (EA) and ICAS, and also Fellowship of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA) and the Royal Aeronautical Society (RAeS), reflecting the international standing of his contribution to aerospace engineering and advanced composites.
At ACS Australia, Murray continues to provide strategic leadership as Chairman of the Board, supporting the company’s mission to deliver advanced composite design, manufacturing, testing and repair solutions across aerospace, defence, transport, mining and renewable energy sectors.
ACS Australia congratulates Murray on this outstanding and well-deserved recognition, and thanks him for his continued leadership, mentorship and commitment to strengthening Australia’s sovereign composites capability.
